Introduction
Suspensions are two-phase liquid dosage forms. This is a heterogeneous system in which the continuous phase is a liquid or semisolid, and the dispersed phase consists of a dispersed solid (size: 0.5 -5 micrometers). There are two types of suspension, namely Flocculated suspension. The suspension in which the dispersed particles settle down easily and return to the original phase upon stirring without delay. The rate of settling down depends on the aggregation of particles. It is easy to re-disperse. The flocculates stick to the side of the bottle.
On the other hand, the deflocculated suspension is the suspension in which the dispersed particles settle down and form a hard mass and do not return to the original phase easily upon shaking. It is very hard to re-disperse. The preparation does not stick to the side of the bottle. Paracetamol suspension is an analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic agent.

Preparation of Paracetamol Suspension Aim
To prepare and evaluate new and effective paracetamol suspension and effective.
Apparatus
Beaker, Stirrer, Mortar and pestle, Measuring cylinder, Balance, Pipette, Bottle, Funnel, Glass- rod
Preparation of Paracetamol Suspension Chemicals
Paracetamol (Acetaminophen), Citric acid, Sodium CMC, sorbitol, Sucrose Syrup (Conc 67% w/v), Methyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben, Raspberry Flavor, Raspberry Red Color, and distilled water
Calculation of APIs Required
The total volume of the paracetamol suspension: 25 ml.
Each 5 ml syrup contains 120 mg of paracetamol
So 25 ml contains=120mg X 5
=600 mg of paracetamol
=0.6 gm of paracetamol Formula for 25 ml paracetamol suspension
Name of the ingredient | Calculated weight | Actual weight |
Paracetamol | 0.6 gm | 2.88 gm |
Na-CMC | 250 mg | 6 gm |
Sorbitol | 2.5 ml | 60 ml |
Sugar syrup | 5 ml | 120 ml |
Methyl paraben | 25 mg | 600 mg |
Propyl paraben | 2.5 mg | 60 mg |
Citric acid | 50 mg | 1200 mg |

Raspberry flavor | q.s | q.s |
Distilled water | q.s to 25 ml | q.s to 600 ml |
Discussion and Results
There are four main excipients used in the preparation of iron syrup. One of the excipients is nipastat which is used as a preservative that prevents the growth of yeast, mold, and bacteria. Liquid Glucose is used as a flavor enhancer and controls sucrose and dextrose crystallization in confections. Sucrose is the primary component in syrups upon which other excipients are added. Sodium metabisulphite is used as an antioxidant agent. If you are provided paracetamol of 99.5% potency, I would require 4.020 L of maize starch, 120 L of Gelatin (E441), 495 L of Silica, colloidal anhydrous (E551), 30 L of Talc (E553B), 30 L of Sodium Starch Glycolate, and 37.5 L of Magnesium Stearate.
Conclusion
The paracetamol suspension is edible and can be used as a vehicle for paracetamol that can be flavored. The drug is used to treat moderate and mild flu aches, osteoarthritis, backaches, toothaches, headaches, and aches related to menstrual periods (Vishnu et al., 2018).
