Should more Gun control laws be enacted?
With recent massive shooting and murder being experienced almost every day, communities and the general public have raised concern for gun ownership and control. Once passed, the new legislation will enable comprehensive background checks to be carried and a federal red-flag law that will allow authorities to remove firearms from Americans by considering them a threat to themselves and others.
The legislators are expected to champion these reforms on 25th October 202x in Congress, where there is an expected opposition to those who feel that guns are essential for security reasons. The Gun Control Laws should be ready by 5th January when the House returns to safeguard its citizen from the beginning of 202x. Nonetheless, Congress should realize that they should place their party interests aside and in return, create Gun Control Laws or regulations that will increase citizens’ safety and protection. There is a need for legislation as the number of home invasions, injuries, and death rise by the day solely on gun violence.

Reports from (GVA), Gun violence archieve.org shows that there are over 55 cases of mass shootings in September 202x alone, raising the concerns and the scare as one can be massacred or severely injured in the incidents. With gun control, the recent number of total gun deaths would reduce as suicides, homicides, and unintentional deaths resulting from gun involvement would be reduced.
The urge to support gun control’s enactment should be broadly upheld as reports indicate that women from domestic abusers and stalkers will be protected. Reports show that the risk of a woman being murdered in domestic disputes raises to 500% when a gun is present in the House. Besides, the Gun Control Laws should be made as high-capacity magazines should be banned as they turn murder into mass murder, lowering the societal costs associated with gun violence. Gun Control Laws are needed as guns are frequently stolen and used by criminals, which lower the need for guns to be used in self-defense.
The latest reports by GVA ascertains the previous reports by Lancet study back in 2016 that indicated that implementing federal universal background checks could reduce firearm deaths by a projected 56.9% while checks on ammunition could reduce deaths by an estimate of 80.7%. Additionally, gun identification requirement could reduce deaths by 82.5% as most deaths are caused by stolen or illegally owned guns.
